What’s new for Fall 2016?

Back To School

After a successful summer, New Orleans NKH is gearing up for fall as students get ready for a new school year. Recently, we distributed NKH gifts (t-shirts, backpacks, water bottles, and sunglasses) to local non-profits and summer camps like All Souls Nola and Save One Now as part of their back to school events. We plan to visit other programs throughout the fall offering much needed support.

Disaster Relief for Baton Rouge Flood Victims

As a way to help out the people of Baton Rouge, who were affected by the recent flood disaster, No Kid Hungry donated an Emergency Grant of $20,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, a NKH campaign partner, who worked hard to distribute water, food and cleaning supplies to the people of South Louisiana after the devastating floods. The Baton Rouge Area Food Bank serves 11 parishes and 8 of those parishes were declared Major Disaster Areas by FEMA. They typically serve 90,000 families a year, and many of those have been impacted by the storm.  Nola NKH will continue to find ways to reach children in need by helping schools, and connecting children with healthy meals throughout the region.

Breakfast and After School Grants

In the coming weeks we’ll also be announcing our Breakfast and After School Grants, which will be available during Mid-October.
